ABF- The Soldier’s Charity Special Performance and Dinner 2011
On Wednesday 7 December 2011, ABF The Soldier’s Charity held their annual fund raising dinner at the St. Pierre Park Hotel. The aim was to help the charity reach the £7million boundary line that must be met each year in order for the charity to continue delivering lifetime support to serving and retired soldiers and their families. Applications from soldiers have risen by 30% over the past two years and it is estimated that around £14million per annum will be required by 2015.
The evening consisted of a welcome drinks reception with an introduction by Sir Evelyn Webb-Carter KCVO OBE DL, Chief Executive of ABF The Soldier’s Charity, followed by a three course dinner. For the evening’s entertainment guests had the privilege of watching a special performance from the talented singing trio – ‘The Soldiers’.
The Soldiers created history by being the first group of serving soldiers to hit the British pop charts in 2009 with their debut album ‘Coming Home’. First and foremost, they are soldiers having served in Afghanistan, Iraq and Kuwait. They have performed at the Royal Variety Show and Festival of Remembrance, and on Strictly Come Dancing and Songs of Praise Big Sing. They are real life heroes who have several military medals between them and can be called back to the Army at any time.
ABF The Soldier’s Charity’s commitment to soldier’s and their families is never ending and around £800 was raised by the kind supporters who attended the dinner.
