British Irish Council – Guernsey 2014
The Guernsey Event Company worked alongside Policy Council to make all arrangements for the 80 delegates attending the 22nd British Irish Council Summit, held in Guernsey at the St Pierre Park Hotel on the 12th and 13th June 2014.
Senior politicians in attendance included Rt Hon Nick Clegg MP, Deputy Prime Minister, UK; Rt Hon Theresa Villiers MP, Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, UK; Rt Hon Peter Robinson MLA, First Minister, and Martin McGuinness MLA, deputy First Minister, Northern Ireland; Enda Kenny T.D., Taoiseach, Ireland; Edwina Hart MBE CStJ AM, Minister for Economy, Science & Transport, Wales; Hon Allan Bell MHK, Chief Minister, Isle of Man; Senator Ian Gorst, Chief Minister, Jersey; Fiona Hyslop MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Culture and External Affairs, Scotland; Deputy Jonathan Le Tocq, Chief Minister, Guernsey.
The British Irish Council is an intergovernmental forum that was established as part of the multi-party agreement in Belfast on 10 April 1998. Summits are held twice a year in one of the member’s jurisdictions in rotation. The council comprises of representatives from the Government of Guernsey, Government of Jersey, Irish Government, Northern Ireland Executive, UK Government, Scottish Government, Welsh Government and Isle of Man Government.
