Guernsey Air Display 2015
20 Jan 2019 - 20 Jan 2019
12:07 pm - 12:07 pm
The immortal words of the then Prime Minister, Winston Churchill when addressing the House of Commons in August 1940 – two months into the Battle of Britain.
2015 marks the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Britain that raged in the skies over England, Germany and the English Channel as the Royal Air Force did everything in its power – and successfully – to repel the German Luftwaffe and defend the sovereignty of Great Britain.
Guernsey’s annual Battle of Britain Week starts on Monday 6 September and will conclude with church service at The Town Church, St Peter Port on Sunday 13 September 2015.
The main focus of this special week of fund raising for the Royal Air Forces Association is the Guernsey Air Display that will take place on Thursday 10 September from 11am to 1.15pm.
Spectators can enjoy the nostalgia of the unforgettable, emotive sights of the Spitfire, Hurricane and Dakota planes (the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight) that will open the Air Display and the split-second precision flying of The Red Arrows (The Reds) at the end of the Air Display.
The aircraft in between are a glorious and breath-taking combination of aerobatic displays, a 95 year old wing walker who holds no less than 13 Guinness World Records to his name, the noise and sound of the Strikemaster and new this year to the Guernsey Air Display are Team Raven.
The full programme of participating aircraft will be announced shortly.
