JOGtoLE Welcome Home Dinner 2011
In November 2011 local runner Stuart Hardy, embarked on a great challenge, He completed 40 marathons in 40 days running a total of 1048 miles through the Scottish, English and Welsh Countryside in order to raise £1million for primarily, The Wooden Spoon – The children’s charity of rugby but also The Priaulx Premature Baby Foundation. This lifetime achievement is a true example of an extraordinary achievement by an ordinary individual.
Wooden Spoon, founded in 1983, is dedicated to harnessing the spirit and values of rugby to improve the quality and prospect of life for children and young people all over the UK and Ireland who are disadvantaged physically, mentally or socially.
On Wednesday 2nd November a dinner was held in celebration of Stuart’s return in the David Ferguson Hall at Beau Sejour. The evening consisted of welcome drinks and dinner, a Q&A led by Ian Robinson with Rosie Swale-Pope discussing her run around the world, a 30 minute stand-up routine from the comedian Ian Irving and an auction to raise much needed money to help improve the lives of children.
