We were delighted to host John Inverdale, Iain Balshaw, Gary Armstrong and Doug Mundell to raise funds for the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation and MND Guernsey.
Doddie Weir was diagnosed with MND in December 2016 and set up the Foundation in 2017 to help raise awareness of the disease, help find a cure and support individuals with MND and their families. The Foundation has, to date, raised £2 million for research into finding a treatment and cure.
Doddie was unfortunately not able to join us following a fall and punctured lung which meant he was not able to travel. However, his brother-in-law Doug Mundell, fellow Scottish international and Foundation Trustee Gary Armstrong and England World Cup winner Iain Balshaw more than made up for his absence regaling the guests with countless stories about Doddie with John Inverdale keeping them all in check.
The event raised a fabulous £17,000 which will be split between the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation and MND Guernsey.
