Proms on the Pier 2015
2015 marks the 120th anniversary of the Proms series and the 10th anniversary of Proms on the Pier, Guernsey’s summer finale that will take place on Saturday 12 September.
Spectators and visiting yachtsman aboard their boats can look forward to a world class evening as the Guernsey Symphony Orchestra (GSO) take to the Alidome Stage on the Crown Pier to perform their outdoor concert. Highlights of the GSO’s musical programme include Carmen, the Grand March from Aida, music from West Side Story, the overture and arias from Mozart’s Don Giovanni and a duet from Verdi’s La Traviata.
NEW FOR 2015….we will be showing Disney’s new Cinderella film on the big screen from 5pm for all the family to enjoy. Food will be available from The Boathouse.
The GSO outdoor concert will take place from 7.30pm and will be followed at 9pm (or shortly afterwards) by the live broadcast of the second half of “Last Night of the Proms” from the Royal Albert Hall in London that ends with the rousing and patriotic anthems of Rule Britannia, Jerusalem and Land of Hope and Glory.
As the credits roll on the BBC, the skies of St. Peter Port will be lit up by the traditional Proms fireworks and the evening will be concluded by one of Guernsey’s best known rock bands – The Barlows.
The evening will also support the Priaulx Premature Baby Foundation and its “Buy A Brick” campaign to purchase a flat in Southampton for Channel Island parents of premature babies who are being cared for in Southampton Hospital.
2015 Proms on the Pier is free to all to attend and takes place on Crown Pier on Saturday 12 September 2015. Seating will be available on a first-come, first-served basis and the public bar will operate from 6pm. The evening will finish at 11.30pm.
