Sure Big Screen 2014
Sure Big Screen will be at Cobo on the west coast of Guernsey for a seven day spectacular of “Movies on the Beach” including films for all age groups. Bring a picnic, join up with friends and make an afternoon or an evening of it.
Sure Big Screen will start from Tuesday 19 August and will show three movies each day ending on the evening of Monday 25th August 2014. Brand new blockbusters and the highest grossing animated movie of all time are on the bill for the summer extravaganza at Cobo. Outdoor cinemagoers will have the chance to see big name family films, such as The Lego Movie, as well as ever-popular classics like Footloose and Who Framed Roger Rabbit.
“Sure Big Screen attracts thousands of people each year and we are delighted that we can provide this free of charge event as part of our continuing support of the island. Experience has shown us that Guernsey residents and visitors thoroughly enjoy the relaxed atmosphere, sitting on a blanket with a picnic and enjoying quality time with family and friends: that’s what it’s all about.” Jess Bisson, Sure’s PR & Marketing Manager
The event is free to all and the film line-up includes a range of children’s animations to action blockbusters, laugh out loud comedies and family favourites from days gone by.
Films start from 2.30pm each afternoon with the exception of Bank Holiday Monday 25 August when the first film will be shown from 11am.
2014 marks the 50th anniversary of the making of the classic Mary Poppins film starring Dick Van Dyke and Glynis Johns. The original film was first released on 27 August 1964 and Monday 25 August will see a special screening at Sure Big Screen at Cobo: a real Bank Holiday treat.
